At the Guild Meeting on April 9th the Guild Treasurer presented a paper covering projected costs for the Guild – reflecting on the changing costs that our affiliation to the Central Council of Church Bellringers is likely to cost us from 2026, when our affiliation fees will rise to £1.00/head, from the 2024 level of £0.20p/head.
In addition to Affiliation fees, the Treasurer also outlined expected increases in all our other costs, which are largely unavoidable. These comprise insurances (both Accident cover and Public Liability cover), handbell insurance, and our Guild subscriptions to ‘The Ringing World’.
Based on current levels of membership, the Guild will be in financial difficulty from 2026, with spend exceeding receipts.
Given these figures the Guild reluctantly took the decision to increase Guild Annual Subs to the following levels from January 2026
On 01/01/2026 Guild Subs will become
- Adult Member: £10.00 per annum
- Child Member (U18): £5.00 per annum
- Senior Member (State Retirement age): £5.00 per annum
- Born Before 1948 – Free
It is possible to become a ‘Life Member’ of the Guild and pay subs only once. In this instance a single payment covering 21 years of subscriptions can be paid i.e. £210.00.
